JAZZWRLD and Ciniso collaborate on “Sukuma,” the ninth track from the Lesotho-born producer’s debut album Secrets of the WRLD.
The record sits within a 3-Step Afro House framework laced with Afro Tech textures, built from layered percussion and atmospheric production that JAZZWRLD has become known for crafting. Ciniso’s haunting vocal delivery transforms the track into something introspective – a meditation on pain, healing, and acceptance that feels both intimate and expansive. This marks the third appearance Ciniso makes across the album, also featured on “Uphuli’iNhlizayo Yam'” and “Emihle,” creating a thread of emotional continuity throughout the project.
JAZZWRLD, born Kamohelo Monese, has spent years shaping South Africa’s electronic music landscape from behind the scenes before stepping into the spotlight with Secrets of the WRLD. His production style merges intricate rhythmic foundations with space for vocal expression, a balance that “Sukuma” demonstrates with precision. The track arrives following “Lashona,” sustaining the album’s momentum while centering female voices within the region’s evolving sound.
What makes this collaboration work is the restraint on both sides – neither artist overshadows the production, and the production never drowns out the emotional weight of the performance.
