Mashelela continues his Maskandi tradition with the arrival of his new album, “Imbongolo Yishende.”

This project is a 17-track body of work released under Mashelela Entertainment. While the album is largely a solo effort, it does bring in guest appearances from Sne Ntuli and Sminofu, and those features add fresh dynamics without drowning out the main man’s signature style.

Rooted in the traditional sound, the record leans heavily on Zulu heritage, rich storytelling, and expressive vocals. However, it also blends in modern influences, so the songs touch on culture, family, perseverance, love, and the realities of everyday life. Because of that balance, the writing feels grounded yet current.

This release makes sense for Mashelela right now because it cements his place in the genre while still pushing it forward. Yet it never strays too far from what his core fans expect, which is authentic, heartfelt Maskandi.
