Ugandan rapper Recho Rey keeps her 2026 momentum rolling as she returns with “Wakabala,” another Luganda rap record built for movement. The song follows her earlier release “Tombuuza,” so it lands as her second major drop this year.
She did not spring the record on fans without warning. Instead, Recho Rey spent time on social media teasing the track. She kept pushing the catchy Luganda phrase “Wakabala Oba Bakakubala!” ahead of its official arrival, and that repetition clearly did its job.
On “Wakabala,” she leans fully into her rap identity. Punchlines and clever Luganda wordplay sit over a hard-hitting hip-hop production. Her energetic flow keeps the record moving, yet the lyrical side of her artistry stays at the centre.
The push did not stop at the audio. Recho Rey teamed up with Khemical Dances for a dance challenge around the song. Clips spread across TikTok and Instagram, which helped carry “Wakabala” to listeners beyond her usual base.
Coming after “Tombuuza,” the track adds another chapter to her run this year. It also reinforces her position within Uganda’s female hip-hop scene, because Luganda rap and a dance-friendly rhythm give it plenty of energy.
