South African producer DJ Maphorisa joins DJ Tunez, Wizkid, Daliwonga and Madumane on “Abangani,” a mellow Amapiano record built for unity. The song sits as the second track on the collaborative “South Gidi” EP, a three-song project that connects Lagos and Johannesburg.
Soft keys and gentle percussion carry the groove, while airy Afro-fusion layers sit under a roomy low end. The title means “friends” or “homies,” so brotherhood runs through the whole record. Wizkid floats over the beat with calm melodic lines, and Daliwonga anchors the verses with soulful delivery. Madumane adds a raw, textured edge that keeps things grounded, but DJ Tunez ties the South African and Nigerian elements together through transitions and vocal layering.
The “South Gidi” EP grew out of London studio sessions, and “Abangani” feels like a real conversation across borders instead of a forced crossover. It never chases a loud club drop, yet it lingers after the beat fades.
