Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa return with a new “Biri Marung” remix, packed with fresh voices from across the continent.
The remix arrived on August 29, 2025, as part of the Scorpion Kings’ seven-track project, “Kings Will Rise.” It pulls in Davido, Focalistic, Mr Pilato, Ego Slimflow, Tebogo G Mashego, and Scotts Maphuma.
Davido takes the opening stretch, and his melodic delivery rides the log drums instead of fighting them. Focalistic and Mr Pilato bring street energy, while Ego Slimflow’s harmonies and Scotts Maphuma’s verses hold the groove steady. Kabza and Maphorisa handle production.
The original already went platinum and powered over four million TikTok videos, so this version had weight on it. DJ Maphorisa said the idea came together while they were in Nigeria and saw how big the song had grown there. Some South African fans questioned the Nigerian feature when he teased it earlier in 2025. The remix still crossed a million Spotify streams after release, so the gamble found an audience anyway.
