Irish folk trio Kingfishr bring their breakout single “The Sun Will Never Settle” to life in a summer film shot across Ireland by Casey King.

The “Ireland 2026” film pairs the song with footage from the band’s summer on the road. Casey King filmed it in June, while Mikey Aldridge, Conor Beegan, and Ronan O’Donnell supplied extra footage and drone shots.

On the record itself, David Curley produced at Grouse Lodge Studios in County Westmeath. The arrangement leans on banjo and warm, swelling acoustic guitars. Eddie Keogh sings with a rasping, rich voice over the top. The song runs two minutes and 28 seconds, so nothing overstays its welcome. Keogh says the track is about the end of a relationship and being better off for the experience. The mood stays hopeful, not bitter, and that is why crowds sing it so loudly.

Kingfishr come from Limerick, and their debut album “Halcyon” reached number one in Ireland. The single climbed to number one at home too, their second chart-topper after “Killeagh,” and it gave them a first UK Singles Chart entry at number 66. BBC Radio 1 also premiered it as its Hottest Record.
