Sfarzo Rtee keeps building on the Sgija sound he is known for, and his new drop with Mkeyz is “Shona Khona,” featuring Sipho Magudulela on guitar. The song sits as the fourth track on the album “EMPINI,” a 12-track project that runs 73 minutes and 33 seconds. Africori handled the release, so it is available across platforms worldwide.
Magudulela’s guitar leads the arrangement, while Mkeyz delivers smooth vocals over jazz-influenced production from Sfarzo Rtee. At six minutes and 22 seconds, “Shona Khona” gives each element room to settle. The rhythm keeps moving, yet the mood stays calm throughout.
Sfarzo Rtee has built his name on Sgija flavours and Sgidongo touches, and “EMPINI” carries that further. The album also brings in Mashudu, Tracy, Miikey Ndlovu, Portia KM, De Rose, and Makhanj. Magudulela returns on “Seshego Drive” and “Zikufanele” for more guitar work.
Fans who wanted a patient, guitar-led groove instead of loud drops should find plenty here. It also makes sense as an early statement on such a long project.
