Tobe Nwigwe, the Nigerian-American rapper and actor, has released “SUPERSTAR,” a new song featuring The Cavemen. and FirstKlaz on the record. The track lands as the second cut on his freshly dropped project, “THE BRIDGE.”
However, this one carries a personal touch. Tobe previewed “SUPERSTAR” for his mother before the world heard it. The song also features young Nigerian singer-songwriter FirstKlaz, while The Cavemen. bring their highlife weight to the record.
But the release fits a busy stretch for the Houston-based artist. He put out “HOOD HYMNS” earlier this year, so “SUPERSTAR” keeps his momentum rolling. The 12-song “THE BRIDGE” also pulls in performers from Africa and other corners of the world.
Born Tobechukwu Dubem Nwigwe, he has built a catalog that includes “moMINTs” and “The Originals.” He also shared the Saturday Night Live stage with Justin Timberlake. Yet his Igbo heritage still shapes much of what he records.
So this record sits neatly inside his current run rather than outside it. Give “SUPERSTAR” a spin and tell us your honest take in the comments below.
