Usimamane and Blxckie have joined forces on a brand new single called “Press,” and the collaboration has fans talking. The South African rapper from Umlazi in Durban built his name on “Cheque,” which went triple platinum in Mzansi. Blxckie, meanwhile, brings that Durban-bred blend of rap and melodic singing to the table. The two voices work well together because Usimamane handles the harder bars while Blxckie smooths things out.
“Press” plays like a confident, melodic rap record built on hustle and swagger. The hook keeps the energy high, and the production gives both artists room to move. Usimamane has shown real range in his short career. He worked with Tony Dayimane on “iFilimu” and with Sjava on “Uvalo,” so he shifts between hard bars and melody without losing his footing. Apple Music named him Rap Life Africa in June 2024, which says plenty about how the industry sees him.
Blxckie answers Usimamane’s energy with a smoother tone, and the contrast gives “Press” its pull. Have you heard “Press” yet? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
