Port Harcourt-born singer Vicoka delivers his debut eight-track EP “Spirit,” a project tracing a journey from depression to peace in faith. The record arrived on August 11, 2025, through House Music.
The EP works as a continuous story rather than a random collection of songs. Vicoka built the first three tracks around feeling down and not being himself. The back half then shifts toward finding God and healing, so the listening experience feels intentional.
The title track with Wizard Chan became the viral entry point. Vicoka admitted he did not even know how to approach Wizard Chan about the feature. However, the artist heard the song and played it repeatedly before agreeing to jump on it. That organic co-sign gives “Spirit” a credibility a label push could not buy.
Elsewhere, “Port Harcourt” stands out as a reflective hometown anthem. Tracks like “Blessings” bring in Halle and SolaceDaMenace for added texture. Vicoka taps Afropop and South-South cultural heritage, yet he never lets the genre-blending distract from the emotional core. He calls himself a preacher of hope, and he does not shy away from the painful parts of his story, including the loss of his father.
