Nigerian musician Yungskid is back on the scene as “Okiemute (Remix)” arrives with the late street-pop star Mohbad adding his signature touch.
The original recording first dropped in 2022, but the official remix found a wider audience in November 2023. Supatee, who produced the first version, handles production here alongside Lionmix for the reworked cut. It runs just over three minutes and fifteen seconds, giving Mohbad room to leave his mark while keeping the repeating “Oya now” and “Okiemute” refrains intact throughout.
The writing turns adversity into inspiration, reflecting on how people disappeared when money ran low before comparing that stretch to the hope of progress. Mohbad fits that outlook perfectly, with lines about persistent hustle, holding onto ambitions, and aiming higher.
Because this remix arrived after Mohbad’s death in September 2023, it carries added weight. It preserves another recorded performance from an artist whose music kept connecting with fans even after he passed.
