American alt-pop singer Billie Eilish and R&B singer Khalid collaborated on “Lovely,” a track for the “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 soundtrack.
The song was released in 2018, when both artists were rising. Eilish was still a young name at the time, while Khalid already had a loyal following.
The production stays sparse and dark. Soft piano chords drift over a slow, heavy beat, with a deep bass humming underneath. Eilish sings close to the mic, and her calm delivery makes the sadness hit harder.
Khalid arrives with a smoother, warmer voice that gives the song a second face. The chorus repeats, so the ache sticks long after the song ends. Their voices blend softly, and neither one tries to take over.
The track remains quiet, sad and easy to replay.
