South African artist Blxckie links up with Bas on “cover me,” a track tucked into his 15-track project YENA. It is Track 5, and that mid-album slot says plenty about how he built the record.
Bas is the featured voice here, so the pairing carries real weight. But the song does not lean on the guest to do the heavy lifting. Blxckie holds his own across the cut, and “cover me” keeps its pull without breaking the run of the album.
The writing on “cover me” comes first on YENA, which points to a larger design. Instead of chasing a standalone single, Blxckie wrote it to feed the narrative and sound he mapped out for the project. The 2026 release runs 15 tracks, and he wants listeners to take it in as one piece.
That approach puts pressure on the middle of the album. Yet Track 5 is where the drive and the emotional weight have to stay balanced. Blxckie meets that task on “cover me,” and the delivery keeps the record moving.
