Zambian pop act Daev steps out with a catchy new record titled “Mboko Mboko” from his “Never Been Easy” album.
There’s no feature here, so he carries the whole thing alone. The song arrived on April 14, 2020, and David Phiri handled the writing. Reverb handles the production, and the sound stays clean throughout.
Pop from Zambia rarely gets the same spotlight as Naija records, but acts like Daev keep the scene moving. The repeated title makes the record easy to remember. Because of that, it already feels ready for sing alongs.
Daev sings with a relaxed, easy flow. He keeps his tone friendly, and the hook arrives quickly. As a result, the record feels close and conversational. Lyrically, Daev keeps the lines simple, so listeners catch the mood fast.
This one works because the pieces stay simple and consistent. Although it’s not a loud record, it keeps listeners around.
