Nigerian rap heavyweights Erigga and EESKAY have joined forces for “North South,” the opening track from their collaborative EP. The song connects the street-rap traditions of Southern Nigeria with the distinct energy of the North.
Erigga brings his familiar South-South storytelling and street-focused perspective to the record. EESKAY adds his Northern voice and approach, so the track reflects different backgrounds through a common musical language. Produced by Tubase, “North South” rides on a heavy contemporary Afro-rap instrumental layered with indigenous flows and direct street commentary.
Both rappers use the record to deliver vivid observations and relatable stories. That gives the song a grounded feel throughout its 3-minute, 10-second runtime. As the opening track on the project, “North South” establishes the central idea behind the EP: bringing artists and perspectives from different parts of Nigeria together through hip-hop.
Cleanblack Music presents the project, with licensing handled through ONErpm. The six-track EP also includes “Two Strips,” “Locked In,” and other cuts, so there is plenty here for fans of either rapper.
