South African producer GoldMax pushes the gqom sound forward as he drops “Hazel” with Woza Bakzin and BlaQ Kiidd on board. The record lands as the eighth single off his 13-song project, the “State of Gqom” album.
It is a collaboration built on South African rhythms, but the writing approach puts cooperation first. Different voices meet on the track, so each one carries its own weight. Woza Bakzin and BlaQ Kiidd fit neatly into that setup, while GoldMax holds the frame together.
“Hazel” sits in the second half of “State of Gqom,” yet it works as a pivotal point in the album’s run. The exchanges between the three artists echo the back-and-forth energy that shapes the wider project, which arrived in 2026. It also celebrates what collective innovation looks like in the current South African music landscape.
Gqom keeps spreading because records like this one refuse to stand still. Have you listened to GoldMax – “Hazel” yet? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
