Ibraah – Usela

Ibraah – Naumwa Ft. Yammi

Bongo flava singer Ibraah has released a new record titled “Usela,” trading heartbreak for street smarts on the track, his latest. The Tanzanian artist returns with what the release describes as a cheeky new song.

The title is said to echo Swahili street slang for being sharp and streetwise, setting a confident tone. Ibraah now runs things on his own after leaving his old label, according to the release, and that confidence fits the moment.

Musically, the beat swings on crisp snares and a thick, round low end. Quick guitar licks flash in and out, giving the record a playful edge.

Vocally, Ibraah drops the sad tone and sings with a lighter swagger. His voice stays sweet, the release states, while he adds a little street edge. The words seem to celebrate wit, hustle and staying one step ahead, delivered in easy Swahili with a hook that is simple to chant.

The release describes the swagger as coming naturally to him, showing another side of Ibraah without losing his sweetness.
