Iceking Ochacho has been closing his debut album “The Future” with “Grateful,” a thankful final record of two minutes and fifty-four seconds. It arrives as the 15th and last song on the project, and also the longest of the late tracks. That extra room lets the album wind down properly.
Chief Double G produced “Grateful,” as he did across the whole album. The song lands right after “Blessings” with Jumabee, so the closing pair feels planned rather than accidental. Iceking Ochacho keeps the mood warm, and the Afrobeats setting suits a record built on thanks.
Gratitude has run through his catalogue for a while. “Oh Papa” nodded to the people who stood by him, while “Oil on My Head” on the “I’m Back” EP touched on faith and appreciation. He started rapping at seven and finished this album at 13, with Magnito, 2Baba, and Jumabee appearing along the way.
Closing a debut with thanks makes sense for an artist this young. It also slows the pace after snappy records like “Vibe Check,” “Magic,” and “Halla My Name.”
Give “Grateful” a spin and tell us who helped you get where you are.
