Mayorkun opens his new EP with “Home Training”, a playful single that lands as he marks ten years in music.
Fresh VDM produced the record, and it leads the project. “Kaluba”, his earlier release, still closes the EP. Apple Music already lists the song among its Best New Songs, so the buzz started early.
In Nigerian slang, home training means the manners your family raised you with. Mayorkun says love can make you drop those manners for a while, so the title doubles as a joke. He leans playful, yet the idea is real: love can change how you act.
The timing fits his story. His debut single “Eleko” came out under Davido’s DMW label, which he left in 2021. Then his album “Back in Office” followed through Sony Music. That album carried “Holy Father” with Victony.
He won Best New Act at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2017. Davido’s “The Best” also put him on a hit from “A Better Time”. Before this, he featured on “Bumpy Ride”, track 10 on Harmonize’s 14-track album.
