South African artist Mbuzi keeps building toward his upcoming project as “Kutsa” arrives as the second single off his “ACHE” album. The song is the first track on that seven-song project, so it opens the whole body of work.
Writing credits on “Kutsa” go to CowBoii, Kabza De Small, Scott Maphuma, and Sly. That mix of contributors feeds into the record’s mood, because several voices shape its direction. The release also carries Mbuzi’s South African roots through both the people involved and the way the project is arranged.
It is a collaborative effort, pulling in a range of artistic inputs and styles. A blend of influences runs through the song, which fits the wider feel of contemporary South African music. Featured artists add more layers to the composition, so the track carries weight beyond a single voice.
“Kutsa” sits early in the tracklist, but it sets the tone for everything after it. Each piece feeds the album’s coherence, so this opener has plenty resting on it.
