Street-pop act Naira Marley, the Marlian Music boss, is back as “Jaiye” lands with producer Rexxie on both boards and mic. The Yoruba title points to enjoying life, and the beat carries that mood from the first bar.
Rexxie handled the production here, yet he also takes a feature credit. So his name appears twice on the same record. That double role shapes how “Jaiye” moves, because the drums and the guest verse come from one hand.
The pair have real history in the studio. Rexxie produced “Soapy” and “Tesumole” for Naira Marley, and he gets credit for creating the Zanku sound. Their catalogue also includes “Aye” and “Coming”, the Busiswa duet. He helped produce the 2019 EP “Lord of Lamba” too, so this partnership runs deep.
His profile has grown since those sessions. He won a Grammy for his work on Burna Boy’s “Twice As Tall” album, but he keeps returning to Naira Marley’s sessions. Few producers hold that kind of run with one artist.
Naira Marley also linked with Kizz Daniel on “Ijoba” earlier, while this one leans on the producer behind several of his hits. Is “Jaiye” already on your playlist? Drop your verdict in the comment section below.
