Shallipopi keeps the rollout as unconventional as the music on “WayWard,” a three-track EP that arrives without warning and gets to the point.
He built the project entirely solo, with no guest features, and packed it into a runtime short enough to play twice on a commute. The Benin City artist releases at a pace that suggests he does not wait for perfect timing, and this surprise pack follows that pattern.
The opening track, “.com,” sets the tone by turning web addresses into street slang. Producer X handled the beat, and the record leans on Amapiano-influenced percussion and a bass-driven groove while Shallipopi runs through phrases like “Pluto.com” and “Bentley.com.” A flute arrangement slips into the mix, which gives the track a texture his earlier singles did not have. It is a small detail, but it signals he is still willing to tweak the formula.
“UP (Transovania)” follows with a fictional destination and space-travel imagery, Producer X again on the boards, while “OGO” closes things out with Cooq handling production. Neither track stretches beyond what the EP needs. They are short, chant-driven, and built around phrases that stick after one listen.
For anyone who followed Auracle, this reads as a quick statement rather than a full chapter. It keeps the Pluto identity intact without asking the listener to commit to a long project.
Press play on Shallipopi – “WayWard” and tell me whether this compact format suits him better than a full album.
