Tega Boi DC closes out his three-track EP “SOL” with “FRA,” a speedy Progrex finish that runs just over two minutes. The Benin City singer keeps the record short, but the production carries plenty of movement.
Progrex handled the beat, which adds a third producer to the EP’s lineup. “eyes & soul” opens the set, while “Alhamdulillah” with ZerryDL and Rord Kelly sits in the middle with boywithmagic behind the boards. So each song on “SOL” gets its own texture, and “FRA” gives the closing slot a different feel.
Tega Boi DC works in melodic Afrosounds, mixing singing with the loose phrasing of Nigerian street music. That style does not need a long runtime to land. A tight two-minute record lets the hook arrive early and leave before it wears out. As a result, listeners can run the whole EP in one quick sitting.
He has stayed busy, following the two-song “Heart Figures” and building on the “Introduction” EP and “Grooves and Moves.” Over that stretch he has grown into a steady name within the Plutomania camp.
Short records like this one rarely get room to sprawl, so the arrangement has to earn every second it takes.
