South African Maskandi artist and storyteller UGCABASHE returns with a culturally rooted record titled “IXHOKOVANE,” the title track of his project. The song carries a firm and reflective mood from the opening drop. He glides smoothly over the tempo, pouring passion into his lines in native Zulu. But the delivery stays grounded throughout, so listeners get a chant-like weight that holds attention for every bar.
His signature voice leads the record, while textured delivery and seasoned vocal poise shine through. The sincere vocal control gives “IXHOKOVANE” a steady presence that suits quiet reflection. Although the arrangement leaves room for the voice, nothing gets crowded out. It is a record for slow evenings and long thoughts.
Fans of traditional Maskandi will recognise the craft here. Have you listened to UGCABASHE – “IXHOKOVANE” yet? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
