South African artist Umhlekisi keeps building on his catalogue as he drops a fresh single called “A pledge” for listeners. The song serves as the third single off his 2026 album of the same name, “A pledge.”
The project is a six-track EP, and Umhlekisi handled the beat making himself. It arrived on 10 October 2026 under 4487445 Records DK. So the record carries his own hand from start to finish.
He stays rooted in maskandi, the genre that shapes most of his output. His past releases include “45 minutes” and the “Mix (2025)” EP, while “Jealous down” and “Lala uphumule” sit further back in the run.
“A pledge” works because it trims away the excess. Six tracks give him room to make a point without dragging it out. That choice fits maskandi well, since the genre rewards restraint more than noise.
