South African artist Ze2 has linked up with Big Zulu and Abayeni for a new record titled “10111.”
The three voices trade turns over sharp drums and a low bassline, so the pressure builds from the first bar. In South Africa, 10111 is the police emergency line. That number shapes the whole mood here, because the song leans into street-level tension instead of club energy.
Big Zulu carries real weight on “10111.” He built his name on the Inkabi style, a mix of Maskandi and hip hop, and he raps in isiZulu about poverty, crime and violence. His “Umbayimbayi” with Sjava went platinum within a month. He also collected a record seven awards at the 2021 SAHHA ceremony.
Ze2 has stayed busy across South African dance and hip hop circles. He has worked with Kabza De Small, Darque and DBN Gogo, while his recent single “Kufa” kept his name moving.
Street records like this only work when the writing stays honest. So what do you make of “10111”? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
