Drake – Marvins Room

Canadian rap and R&B star Drake’s “Marvins Room,” the drunk-dial classic from his album “Take Care,” is once again back in conversation.

The song dates from 2011, yet it still gets pulled into fresh moments. One of those came in July 2026, when a crowd at the NOCTA Manor party sang it back at him. He stood there almost embarrassed and did not join in. Fans found that funny.

The record works because the story is so simple and awkward. Late at night and a few drinks in, Drake rings an ex and shares his thoughts on her new partner. Some listeners heard vulnerability, while others heard softness. Rolling Stone treated it as comic heartbreak, and that split reaction only added to its legend.

The title carries a backstory too. Drake named it after Marvin’s Room, the Los Angeles studio Marvin Gaye created in the 1970s, where he recorded the song. Noah “40” Shebib produced it, and Adrian “X” Eccleston plays guitar. Chilly Gonzales adds piano, while Syren Lyric Muse supplies extra vocals. The track runs 5 minutes and 47 seconds, which is long for a single.

Fans still rank “Marvins Room” among his best. Users on review sites call it a top Drake song and one of the greatest heartbreak records. That staying power explains why a party crowd can still sing it word for word.
