Congolese rumba star Fally Ipupa returns with another cut from the third disk of his “XX: Délirium” project, titled “Alikey.” The song lands inside a 51-track body of work, so it arrives with plenty already surrounding it.
Fally has been building this triple album since “Formule 7” in 2022, but the full scope only reveals itself once you reach disk three. “Alikey” keeps that variety going, moving through romance, sadness, celebration and introspection. Handling that much material on one release takes real ambition, yet this track never feels like padding.
There is not much detail out yet on what “Alikey” is about lyrically. Even so, knowing his catalog, it likely touches the same emotional ground running through the rest of disk three. He rarely phones it in, because his writing has always carried weight across every project.
The production stays in his wheelhouse, with expressive rumba instrumentation that leaves room for his voice to lead. His delivery is smooth and seasoned, that same distinctive tone that has followed him since “Droit Chemin.” He sounds interested here, not like someone going through the motions deep into a long undertaking.
