Gunna has officially kicked off the rollout for his forthcoming album with “Pop It,” the lead single from his album Splurge. The Atlanta rapper released the Tay Keith-produced hip-hop record on October 9, 2026, giving fans their first proper taste of the project’s direction. It arrives after Gunna previewed the song at his birthday celebration, so anticipation had been building well before the official drop.
As a standalone record, “Pop It” carries the weight of introducing Splurge before the full body of work lands. Tay Keith handles production, and his chemistry with Gunna gives the single a familiar bounce. Because the two have worked together before, the pairing feels natural rather than forced.
Gunna, born Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, has built a catalogue that stretches across six studio albums. His range moves between melodic rap and harder trap, while his list of collaborators includes some of the biggest names in the genre. Yet he still finds room to switch up his approach.
Placing “Pop It” at the front of the rollout makes sense. It lets listeners hear one record on its own terms before Splurge arrives in full. However, the album’s exact release date remains unconfirmed for now.
