ISSAM keeps his foot on the gas as “Star Dancer” lands on Def Jam North Africa, with Prince 85 on the boards. The Moroccan rapper wrote, composed and performed the record himself, so the vision stays firmly in his hands.
“Star Dancer” is a one-track single that runs under two minutes, and it comes with a full creative team behind it. xcep mixed the record while Grant Berry mastered it, and NB2WN directed the video with Yazid Bezaz producing and Ismail Guluev editing. Def Jam North Africa released it through Universal Music Group, which says plenty about how the label views him.
Born Issam Harris in Derb Sultan, Casablanca, he built his name by fusing trap with Moroccan sounds. His early record “Trap Beldi” helped shape that blend, and he has since linked with NaaR and Jazz Cartier on “Casablanca.”
But “Star Dancer” is not a lone drop. It follows “RAÏ 2008” and “TATTOO” in the same year, while “Dynamite” and “Boubakar & Bachr” with Tihay came earlier. That steady run shows an artist working, not waiting.
Give “Star Dancer” a spin and tell us in the comments whether Moroccan trap travels well.
