Kota Embassy keeps the groove alive as the South African act delivers “Old Skool Funk” with Ivy Beatz, Dj Mremz and G Master. The record holds the second spot on the “Grootman Series II” album, yet it carries a spirit that stretches further back.
Traditional funk rhythms sit at the core here, while a modern South African groove wraps around them. That mix gives the song its own lane inside a 12-track project. Ivy Beatz, Dj Mremz and G Master add texture and depth, so the joint effort pushes the album’s direction forward.
“Old Skool Funk” also opens the album, which means the mood gets set from the first second. It is a short but impactful execution, and the writing leans on homage rather than imitation. The funk roots stay visible, but the local flavour keeps it current.
