Tanzanian Singeli artist Meja Kunta keeps the “Chapter One” rollout moving as “Segerea” lands as a fast solo cut. The song occupies Track 4 on the project, and it follows “Crazy” in the running order.
Under the Makers Gang production umbrella, the record was distributed internationally through EMPIRE. “Segerea” sits on “Chapter One” alongside “Uloda,” which features Chino Kidd and Mabantu, and “Salamu,” so the EP carries both solo and collaborative entries.
Meja Kunta comes from Dar es Salaam and built his name inside Singeli, a sound he has carried since his days with Team Jangwani. He later went solo and broke through with “Mambo Yasiwe Mengi,” and his catalogue includes “Bado Hujasema” and “Madanga Ya Mke Wangu.”
The title borrows from Segerea, an area of Dar es Salaam known for its prison, which ties the song to the city’s street geography. Singeli has always pulled titles from the everyday surroundings of its artists.
