South African Maskandi artist Mxhashazwa is back with a new EP titled “Ubani ubaba kajesu?”, built on expressive storytelling.
The isiZulu title translates into English as “Who Is Jesus’ Father?” and raises questions around religion, belief and spirituality. It is the latest release added to his musical arsenal, and it pushes listeners to sit with the title before they even press play.
Across the project, Mxhashazwa uses music as a vehicle for lyrical expression and narrative. The writing leans on his cultural inspirations, while the title invites curiosity and introspection from anyone who comes across it.
There is no word yet on how fans are receiving the body of work. But the concept alone should get people talking, because few Maskandi releases arrive with a question this direct attached to them.
