KwaZulu-Natal maskandi multi-instrumentalist Ntencane has joined forces with KaMaphanga for “Engalobolile,” a five-minute cut lifted from his 16-track album Awuyiphumuze.
The song sits at track 9 on the project. Blogs describe KaMaphanga as an award-winning artist who adds a verse here. One listing hears a blend of maskandi and Afro soul, while another files it as straight maskandi. So the pairing gives the record two clear voices to work with.
Ntencane’s real name is Senzo Zondo, and Wawuthembeni is among his best-known songs. Blogs point to emotive storytelling and guitar riffs in his sound. Ujesu Yedwa and Nguye Lo also sit in his catalogue, while Khulula Inhliziyo and Uthando Lwethu round out the list.
“Engalobolile” runs 5:01, so it has room to stretch. Blogs describe the feel as calming yet lively. That length lets the verse land without rushing the story.
Awuyiphumuze also carries Ukhethe Mina at track 5, plus Uwedwa Yini Kuye with Mzukulu. Musa Ukusilinga features Izingane Zoma, while Iphupho Lami sits at track 15. Amakhaya Aboshiwe and Enxiweni Elinethuna appear too.
