Royal Messengers – Tshatha noPhakela

Royal Messengers are back with a brand new record titled “Tshatha noPhakela,” and the title carries a clear cultural meaning. The isiZulu word “tshatha” refers to marriage, so the group is celebrating a wedding or a proposal here. It follows “Kujabula Amadlozi,” which honoured the ancestors, and “oMama Bethu,” which saluted mothers. So this is the third release in a row built around tradition.

The group works in the gospel and traditional space, and their catalogue sits alongside names like Balele oBaba and Ezibhedlela. They also appeared among ten powerhouse groups on a collaborative project, a list that included Pomeroy Golden Stars, Inkululeko, Khalabhayi Boys and Zulu Messengers. That places them firmly inside a scene that values strong voices and heritage.

A wedding song needs joy, and “Tshatha noPhakela” aims for exactly that. Clapping percussion and layered vocals should fill a room quickly, while the hook stays simple and playful enough to travel through a family gathering. The mood is bright and rhythmic throughout.
