South African music star TNK MusiQ is back with “Isikhalo,” a strong addition to his expanding library this year. The track arrives as the first offering from the vast 20-track project “iiNgcambu zikaThixo,” so it carries plenty of weight on its shoulders.

TNK MusiQ did not carry “Isikhalo” alone, however. He pulled in DJ Raybel Mel Muziq & Dali, Civil Soul and Leora for vocal support, and their contributions fit in effortlessly. Because each voice brings something different, the track gains dynamism and emotional effect that a solo cut might have missed.

While “Isikhalo” leads the charge, the wider project shows the range and depth of TNK MusiQ as an artist. The release also strengthens his position in the South African music landscape, yet it raises the bar for the rest of the album too.
