Ghanaian street-hop artist Uptee has linked up with new group NY BBG for a rhythm-heavy track called “Abele Was.”
The song is built for movement, and it arrives while West African street-pop fans keep hunting for choruses that hit fast. Uptee and NY BBG trade lines over a beat that leans on bounce and neighborhood slang. So the session turns into something made for street parties and late-night rides.
Uptee carries a name for lyrical storytelling on the Ghanaian street-hop scene. “Abele Was” pushes that side of him into a more club-ready space, but the grit stays intact. NY BBG match his energy bar for bar, and the group’s presence gives the record a back-and-forth feel that suits the tempo.
What does the joint do for both camps? It puts Uptee in front of listeners who want dancefloor fuel, while NY BBG get a solid platform beside a rising voice. The timing works, because the region’s appetite for snappy street-pop keeps growing.
