West African Afro-fusion fans waiting on new love music from Cojo Rae now have “Ready To Be Mine (Bonus)” to sit with. The Ghanaian highlife innovator offers this sweet bonus cut from his studio project Gen Z Highlife.
The song arrives as an intimate CD for listeners hungry for real love tracks. It updates classic palmwine rhythms with a youthful sensitivity instead of chasing club tempos. Cojo Rae settles fully into his lover-boy element here.
He strips back the dance tempos and puts sheer emotional devotion in the spotlight. Gentle acoustic guitar strumming carries the warm, mid-tempo highlife setting. Lovely electric keys and clean shakers fill out the frame.
A steady drum kick rolls softly over a fluid bassline. The mix keeps an engaging rhythm while leaving plenty of headroom throughout. His silken vocal phrasing and pitch control hold the chorus about patience and lasting commitment.
