South African producer Deejay Zebra SA returns with “Violin Gqom,” a track lifted from his 2026 album “The Gqom Code.” The song sits second on the 11-track project, right after the intro. It carries an independent release through Ditto Music, and it lands as a single as well as an album cut.
That early placement matters, because “Violin Gqom” sets the tone for everything after it. The album runs eleven songs deep, and each one leans into a different corner of the gqom sound. But this one arrives first among the full tracks, so it carries the weight of a statement.
Deejay Zebra SA has built a catalogue that moves across gqom, amapiano, Afro-house and straight house. His past releases include “Gqobho Zwii Zwii” and “The Secrets of Dzsa.” He has also linked with names like King Saiman and Protée, so working across styles is familiar ground for him.
Gqom keeps shifting, and producers like him keep pushing its edges further out.
