Fola – Waf

Nigerian Afrobeats singer FOLA has officially released “WAF,” a track that arrives with a backstory few album cuts can claim. The song lands on his sophomore album “9,” also called Striker, as the tenth of fourteen tracks.

It sits between “fine ting (fine $hit)” and “Crime,” giving the record a clear place in the project’s second half. But “WAF” already had ears on it before the rollout, because the song leaked in May 2026 and built its own quiet buzz.

The title ties back to Wafflesncream, the Lagos Island skate community known as WAF. FOLA previously handled global communications for the adidas x waf. footwear collaboration, so the connection runs deeper than a name.

FOLA is Nigerian singer-songwriter Folarin Odunlami, a Lagos-based act who broke through with “alone” and records under Bella Shmurda’s Dangbana Republik. His debut album, “Catharsis,” arrived in 2025, and “9” now follows it.

On “WAF,” he stays in Afrobeats territory, riding the groove rather than forcing it. The mood fits the album’s stretch between romance and reflection, while the skate link gives the song its own identity.
