South African maskandi act IGqumelasha teams up with UKhoz’olumpunga on “Ize Leze,” a mid-album cut built around voices trading lines. The song sits fourth on an eight-track project of the same name, so the pairing arrives early enough to set the tone.
The album “Ize Leze” landed on 2 October 2026. Both artists carry the vocal here, and the delivery leans on call-and-response rather than one voice holding the floor. Because maskandi lives or dies on that exchange, the arrangement gives each singer room to answer the other.
IGqumelasha has kept a steady release pace, with “Wabisha” and “Wedlamanzi” also arriving this year. He has worked with Phathizwe Ntuli on “Ngizophumelela,” while his earlier records “Ngishay’inja” and the EP “Angichomi” built the audience now waiting on this one. The album has already reached the top five of the SA Apple Music album chart.
Bringing in UKhoz’olumpunga makes sense, since the record needs a second voice to carry its back-and-forth. Yet the choice also widens the sound beyond a solo set.
