South African maskandi voice IGqumelasha returns with “Ungumbulali kufa,” a fresh collaboration with ukhoz’olumpunga lifted from the album Ize Leze. The record lands as a moody, deliberate piece built for slow evenings and long drives.
It sits at the heart of Ize Leze, an eight-track project where teamwork drives the sound. The album arrives in 2026, with the song released on 14 October 2026 through ukhoz’olumpunga. Keyboard work shapes the arrangement, while both voices trade lines instead of competing for space.
IGQumelasha has kept a steady output across maskandi and its neighbouring styles. Recent albums include Wabisha and Wedlamanzi, plus the single “Duduzekani” and the EP Angichomi. He has also appeared beside Phathizwe Ntuli on “Ngizophumelela,” so crossing into another artist’s world is familiar ground.
Records like this one matter because they carry a genre forward without abandoning where it came from.
