Nigerian gospel artist TY Bello returns with a new collaboration titled “Taking My Soul Back” featuring Godswill Oyor and Toyin Oyemade. The track sits as the fifth song on her sprawling 20-track project, I Speak Lamb, which also houses cuts like “Ya Yesu” and “Glory to the Lord.”
On “Taking My Soul Back,” the writing leans into a theme of reclaiming and worship. But the message lands through three distinct voices rather than one. Godswill Oyor and Toyin Oyemade each carry their own weight here. Yet the result never splinters. The album itself follows a collaborative pattern, so this song fits that design.
TY Bello first broke through with the gospel band Kush in the 2000s. She has since built a catalog that includes “Greenland” and “Nobody Else.” Her recent run takes in We Are Fire and The Spirit of Light. Because of that history, expectations around any new Ty Bello release stay high.
What stands out is restraint. The production gives each singer room instead of crowding the mix. Although the arrangement stays simple, the vocal interplay keeps the listener locked in. The writing carries the emotional weight, so the singing never has to strain for it.
