Canadian singer Chxrry and Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema join forces on “Big Shot,” a cross-continental collaboration worth attention for its subject. The track blends contemporary pop, Afrobeats and alternative R&B influences, and it lands as part of the deluxe edition of Chxrry’s debut studio album, U, Me & My Ego.
Fans had already picked up the signal before the song arrived. Clips of Chxrry and Rema in the studio made the rounds online, and interest climbed when Chxrry posted the deluxe tracklist but kept the guest on “Big Shot” unnamed. She then shared an audio preview on TikTok, which confirmed Rema’s appearance and gave listeners their first real taste of his contribution.
That reveal matters, because “Big Shot” rests on the meeting of two styles. Chxrry’s pop and R&B direction sits against Rema’s Afrobeats delivery, so the writing leans on contrast rather than a single lane. The result adds an international dimension to the expanded project, and it connects two artists working from different corners of the global scene.
