Singer and songwriter Kurry joins forces with Bill Fyre on “Olosho,” a humorous street-hop record with a hook built for TikTok. The hook does most of the work here. “Your man is an OLOSHO” is the line people keep repeating. A dance trend grew around it. So the song spread through short clips before many people had heard the full verses.
The subject is modern dating. But the tone is playful, not preachy. Kurry and Bill Fyre lean on humour and bold street slang. The storytelling moves fast. Lively percussion and club-friendly rhythms keep it bouncing. The two are not strangers either. Bill Fyre is credited on production and engineering for Kurry’s earlier single “Delete My Number.” So this feature grows from a working relationship.
“Olosho” also sits differently in Kurry’s current run. “Confess” with Mage the Producer and “Gambare” are both recent releases. They lean toward Afro soul and dance-leaning Afropop. “Olosho” goes the loud, funny route instead. Records like this live or die on the hook. Here the hook is simple enough to shout back. That is why the clips keep coming.
