South African producer Stixx pairs with Kabza De Small on “Cloud 9,” a midpoint track from his 20-song album “Destiny.” The song lands at track ten, right in the middle of the project. That placing carries weight, because a midpoint cut often works as an album’s pivot.
“Cloud 9” brings two Amapiano approaches into one room. Stixx works in a detailed, layered style, while Kabza De Small adds his signature log-drum patterns and rich arrangements. The result is a soulful sound. Instead of crowding the mix, the track lets its instrumental layers breathe and build.
Kabza is the only name on the credit beyond Stixx, so “Cloud 9” stays focused. That sets it apart from the rest of “Destiny,” which runs through Babalwa M, Youme, De Rose, Mphoet, Nvcho and Zwayetoven. Songs like “Uyangazi Mina,” “Lez’ezam,” “Angazi” and “Amablomo” show how wide Stixx casts his net. He has also appeared on “Gobhoza” with Sam Deep and Nvcho.
A Kabza link-up simply adds the genre’s most recognisable name to that growing circle.
