Zimbabwean gospel singer Dr Dorcas Moyo joins Feli Nandi on “Mashoko,” a new song built around the weight words carry. The track arrives as the first release from her upcoming album “Korona Yeimvi.”
The title means “words,” and the song treats the theme seriously. It draws on Shona wisdom, including the idea of “Mashoko Avo,” meaning “their words.” Gossip and betrayal can break confidence, so the two singers answer with patience, wisdom and faith. They urge listeners to let God reveal the truth instead.
Moyo, who is based in Mutare, brings gospel vocals to the record. Feli Nandi adds a smooth, jazz-inspired delivery shaped by her Afro-fusion style. The theme fits Nandi well, because she sang about words on her earlier song “Mashoko Angu.”
Moyo says “Mashoko” is already getting airplay and social media buzz. An official video is out too.
Meanwhile, “Korona Yeimvi” holds 10 tracks and is nearly finished. Videos are planned for “Musaenda Kure” and “Moyo Wakusuwa.” Moyo will also hold a launch show at the Mutare Showgrounds later this month, with Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata, Hosiah Chipanga and Fungisai Zvakavapano on the bill.
