Empress Gifty returns to traditional worship as she drops “Sunsum Ndwom,” a Ghanaian gospel medley with a video to match.
Audio and visuals landed together, so listeners got both at once. MiPROMO Media and VMG handled distribution for the release.
The medley leans heavily on scripture. It draws from the story of Prophet Elijah on Mount Carmel, where God answered by fire. Revelation 5:11–13 also echoes through it, a passage about glory and majesty. Surrender, thanksgiving and God’s authority run through the whole thing.
Sonically, “Sunsum Ndwom” moves in stages. Reverent traditional Ghanaian worship forms the base, while rich choir harmonies wrap around her vocals. Then the mood shifts from solemn adoration to joyful praise. It never stays in one gear for long.
The record follows “Watch Me,” a song written and produced by Kuami Eugene. That one carried an Afro-gospel feel and gathered millions of streams. This new one takes a different road, more rooted and more congregational. Her catalogue already includes Ebenezer, Adom, Eye Woaa and Jesus Over Do. She was also named Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA.
Gospel fans who enjoy a full worship session will likely play this from start to finish. Which part of “Empress Gifty – Sunsum Ndwom” lifts you most? Drop your answer in the comments below.
