NI SAWA – MAXWELL MWALIMU

Kamba singer Maxwell Mwalimu lands a charting record as “NI SAWA” enters Kenya’s YouTube list at number seven this week. The song arrived after a TikTok build-up, with teaser clips and “coming soon” posts circulating for days before the video went live.

Two of those teasers pulled more than 1,700 likes each, while Kamba music pages pushed the record under their own hashtags. So the audience was warmed up early. On the chart, “NI SAWA” sits just ahead of “Ubaya” by Chege and Mbosso at number eight, with Diamond Platnumz at the top. That places a Kamba-language song in the same bracket as two big East African names.

Maxwell Mwalimu calls himself the voice of Ohangla ya Ukamba. He also carries about 232,000 followers on Facebook and has stayed busy with singles like “Marafiki Fake,” “Nongwendaa,” “Sikuku,” and “Ngunie Simu.” Details on production credits haven’t surfaced yet, but the numbers and the buzz say plenty about where his demand sits.
