Tanzanian Singeli act Meja Kunta returns with “Salamu,” a new track whose title carries the weight of a simple greeting. The Swahili word means greetings, so the song walks into the room already knowing what it wants to say.
“Salamu” lands as part of Chapter One, the EP he has been building out through EMPIRE. Production comes from Diblo one touch, working under the Makers Gang banner, and the arrangement leans hard on fast percussion. That combination gives Meja Kunta a restless floor to work over.
He has kept his name moving. Records like “Madanga Ya Mke Wangu” and “Demu Wangu” sit alongside work with Billnass, and his demand across Tanzania has not cooled. “Salamu” adds another solo entry to that run instead of leaning on a feature.
The record itself is street-facing. Meja Kunta rides the tempo with clipped vocal cadences, letting the beat carry as much of the message as the words do. A greeting becomes a statement of presence, and the energy never drops long enough for the mood to settle.
